Why clean your chimney?

Regular chimney sweeping is important to keep it safe, efficient, and clean. Here are the key reasons:

  • Fire safety – Soot, creosote, and tar build up inside a chimney over time. These are highly flammable and are a leading cause of chimney fires. Sweeping removes them.

  • Carbon monoxide prevention – A blocked or dirty chimney can stop smoke and gases from venting properly, allowing dangerous carbon monoxide to leak into your home and impact your health and that of your family.

  • Better efficiency – A clean chimney allows your fire or stove to draw air properly, so it burns hotter and more efficiently, using less fuel.

  • Pest and blockage removal – Birds’ nests, leaves, and debris often get lodged inside chimneys. Sweeping clears them out.

  • Compliance & insurance – Some insurers require proof of regular chimney sweeping, especially with wood-burning stoves.
